Absences
- Excused absences from school will be (1) illness, (2) death in family, (3) doctor appointment, (4) Quarantine under the direction of a county or city health officer.
- To be classified as an excused absence, all absences must be verified by a telephone call and a note from parents.
- For pre-arranged absences, parents must contact the office and teacher to request missed work from the teachers of all missed classes 48 hours prior to the event.
- Absences from school for any reason other than the above mentioned will not be excused by the school.
- Student absences are considered unexcused if the parent does not contact the office
Attendance Matters
Regular school attendance is one of the most important factors in student success. Students who attend school consistently are more likely to stay engaged, achieve academically, and build positive relationships at school.
A student is considered chronically absent when they miss 10% or more of the school year, whether the absences are excused or unexcused. During the first semester, that equals just 8 days of missed school.
Reporting an Absence
If your child is absent, please notify the school each day they are out. Parents and guardians have five school days to excuse an absence. Absences that are not excused within five school days will be recorded as unexcused.
Doctor's Notes
Once a student has accumulated 14 excused absences, a doctor's note will be required for each additional absence in order for it to be considered excused, in accordance with district attendance policy.
Thank you for partnering with us to make attendance a priority. Every school day provides valuable opportunities for learning, growth, and connection.
- Please call the office to clear an absence @ (209) 933-7310
